Gimhae Tourist Attractions promotes Gimhae City, a famous city in South Gyeongsang Province in South Korea. This famous City is accessible via all public transports.

Notably, Gimhae City is the place of the famous family Gimhae Kim clan. It is one of the most prominent Kim families in South Korea. The characters 'kimhae' means 'gold sea' in the English language.

The Gimhae Kim clan claims that they are the direct descendants of the ancient royal family of Geumgwan Gaya that was established in Gimhae itself. The City is located nearby one of the largest rivers in Korea--Nakdong River.

FACTS: Gimhae is the original site of the old Garakguk in 42 A.D. The founder, King Kim Suro, married a princess of Ayuta in India and gave two of her sons the family name 'Heo‘. 'Gimhae' means 'Gold Sea' as the family name 'Gim (the gold)'. The 'Heo' family name originated from this city.

If you are fond of athletics, you should know that Gimhae has a national league soccer club called the Gimhae FC. One of the biggest sports clubs for foreigners in the City is called the Gimhae Semi-Athletic Club (G-SAC), which is located in Nae-dong (district).

Gimhae became more famous and visited by travelers because it is the birthplace of the late president Roh Moo-hyun.

Gimhae's Additional Tourist Attraction

Gimhae City is famous for its floricultural industry. The area has lots of flower farmers producing beautiful flowers almost all-year-round.

Busan and its neighbors are into flower business by exporting bulks of flowers.

Certainly, Gimhae is not the only place that produces beautiful roses as other regions in the country are also making flower business as their primary source of income.

Weather & Temperature

Gimhae has the mildest climate in the Peninsula due to the coastal environment that affects the whole City and surrounding area.

It is known to have an annual average temperature of around 15 degrees Centigrade. On average, Gimhae has yearly precipitation of 1,200 millimeters, which is close to the average rainfall in Korea.

Getting to Gimhae City

You can easily travel to Gimhae City and explore its tourist attractions via public vehicles. You can fly to Gimhae's international airport, take a train to its train station, or buses from any point in the country.

If you haven't heard yet, there is a newly established rail transit for Busan and Gimhae called Busan-Gimhae Light Rail Transit, which was inaugurated in 2011.

By Plane
Fly from anywhere in the world, or from South Korea domestically, to Gimhae International Airport. This airport is located east of Gimhae City, in Gangseo-gu, Busan.

The airport is known to have over 9 million annual travelers using its facility. (Maybe less this year, 2020, due to the restrictions to limit the spread of COVID-19).

Gimhae Airport offers various facilities to all guests and travelers, such as wheelchairs, strollers to babies, clean washrooms, restaurants, convenience shops, souvenir shops, sitting areas, traveler's desk, travel information center, among many facilities.

Travel by Train
Gimhae is also reachable by trains from anywhere in the country. It has two main stations on the Gyeongjeon Line: Hallimjeong Station and Jinyeong Station.

Mentioned above, the Busan-Gimhae Light Rail Transit also offers comfortable travel. Opened in September 2011, the LRT links Gimhae City to Busan City through the Gimhae Airport.

The LRT also links you to the Busan Metro network and Daejo, and Sasang.

If you want to take the KTX, especially when coming from Seoul, the closest KTX station to Gimhae is Gupo KTX Station, which is located in Busan City area.

By Bus
Depending on your point of origin, you can easily take a regular or express bus from most cities and bigger towns in the country. For example, you can choose an express bus from Dong-Seoul Bus Terminal, which is one of the biggest bus stations in Seoul.
