National Institute of Ecology

The National Institue of Ecology is another excellent place to see all kinds of plants and even animal species. NIE, for short, has a high standard and quality for ecological research, exhibition, and educational resources.

You can observe and experience the world's five significant climates, including the ecosystem of the Korean peninsula, tropical, desert, Mediterranean, temperate, and polar regions.

The National Institute of Ecology will contribute to conserving the environment and raising awareness for proper environmental consciousness by leading ecology research.

Due to climate change and other anthropogenic impacts, biodiversity and the number of living organisms has dramatically decreased in a short period.

NIE was established and started operating its research, preservation, and conservation activities in 2018.

NIE is raising the national competitiveness, providing various experiences and learning spaces for the ecosystem.

Conservation of Ecological System

The National Insitute of Ecology was established to research and survey ecosystems and carry out its projects by employing technology development to achieve their vision.

Ecological Research Hub
Performs a hub function of ecological research that can study and respond to ecosystem changes due to climate change in an integrated and professional manner.

The research hub tries to perform comprehensive research restoring the ecosystem.

Education and Exhibition Hall
This Hall includes domestic and overseas educational and exhibition facilities linked to research activities.

The Hall has excellent facilities for exhibiting and teaching forests and wetlands on the Korean Peninsula. Also, it includes ecosystems of various climatic zones such as tropical, desert, Mediterranean, temperate, and polar regions.

As the anthropogenic activity increased, our wildlife has started disappearing from nature, presumably due to on-going habitat loss and environmental pollution.

Each precious plant and animal species will have an essential role in the community and our nature's ecosystem.
