Despite its difficulty, the peak can get crowded, particularly during peak seasons, as climbers worldwide come to test their skills on its rugged terrain.

It's not uncommon to see large groups of up to 10 or more climbers ascending a single route in an expedition-style manner, which adds to the excitement of the climb.

Additionally, you might come across fixed ropes on the road, sometimes left for rappelling at the end of the day.

Tips for a Great Experience

If you're looking for an unforgettable alpine adventure, here are some tips to ensure a great experience. For a more serene and less crowded atmosphere, it's recommended that you visit on weekdays. 

To avoid the crowds altogether, consider arriving early in the morning, around 7 am or earlier. 

While fresh bolts were installed in 2016, it is still advisable to bring a small rack of cams, particularly sizes 0.3 to 2, to make the most of your climbing experience. 

Getting To Insubong Peak of Bukhansan Park

Using public transport, you can take subway line 1 to Dongmyo station and transfer to line 6 to reach the Do-Son-Sa parking lot from Seoul. 

Take line 6 to Itaewon station and then transfer to bus 402, which is bound for Wondang. Get off at the Do-Son-Sa parking lot stop. 

From there, follow the main trail toward Baekundae and veer off to the right just before reaching the ranger station. Cross the boulders and find the smaller climbers' trail on the far side. This trail will lead you to the base of the great slab on the southeast corner of Insubong. 

Finally, trace the bottom of the rock face to the start of your chosen climbing route.
